Why Is Coconut Used in Cheese Making
What makes coconut so good for making vegan cheese with?
The simple answer to that is that it's actually not that good.
What we mean by this is that it's not a great ingredient to use for cheese making by itself, but that it works very well with a myriad of other ingredients to make alternative vegan cheeses.
You will find that whenever you see a coconut cheese which uses the ingredient as it's base, you will more than likely find ingredients such as starch from a number of different vegetables.
Combining these two ingredients and using these as the base is what makes the cheese alternatives much better.
And this is why you just won't find a vegan cheese made entirely with coconut and flavourings.
When you look at more artisanal vegan cheeses, you will find that some still use coconut as an ingredient, but instead of starches they will use seeds or nuts to work with other ingredients and use the coconut as a minor ingredient in the cheese making process.
