VeganCheese.co is run by a vegan couple who decided to go vegan in the winter of 2015 after years of being vegetarian and not eating seafood. Why did we go vegan and why should you?

Our original choice to go vegan was made from the environmental and animal welfare issues involved in animal agriculture, which is not just limited to the meat industry, but dairy as well.

We have gone vegan for the animals and for the well fare of the planet and future generations. Later in our vegan adventure and in more recent years have we used it to help our personal health and recovery after workouts.

It really is great that there are so many reasons to go vegan.

Environmental Issues

One of the reasons to go vegan was the environmental issues involved with animal agriculture, it is a leading cause of global emissions, producing more co2e than all of transport combined.

The biggest study of over 40,000 farms show the environmental cost of food with all plant based foods coming out better than animal agriculture.

Resources

The vast majority of land use in the world right now is from animal agriculture, the animals and from their food.

With a plant based diet, taking in the same calories and protein, you can use just 10% of the land, that an animal based diet would cover. In some cases, up to 18x more land is used for the same amount of calories and protein that can sustain you from a plant based diet.

Oceans

We are both avid water lovers, divers and are astonished at the rate the oceans are suffering around the world.

Global warming is warming the oceans, which leads to acidification, corals struggle to grow and bleach, the oceans capture less co2 and release less oxygen and we're plundering the oceans and calling it sustainable.

Animal agriculture run-off is the leading cause of ocean dead zones and water way pollution, making water bodies literally lifeless.

Animal Suffering

The marketing phrases of organic, happy eggs, etc are all just that, marketing phrases with zero reality.

Animals suffer in the millions each month, even in the dairy industry.

Male chicks are immediately killed after being born, calfs are separated from their mothers within minutes of being born and these are not the worst of it.

There are plenty of documentaries which unveil the true horrors of the animal agriculture industry, such as dominion, cowspiracy, earthlings, etc.

Personal Health

One of the healthiest diets is a whole food plant based diet of legumes, grains, vegetables, fruits, seeds and nuts.

There is evidence to show that endurance athletes have a faster recovery time after exercise and some of the worlds best athletes are vegan.

Why Did We Make VeganCheese.co

We have fallen back in love with cheese, after a couple of years without it and going vegan. We found it very hard to give up, it was one of our vices and had it on most meals. Today we hear a familiar story with others trying to give veganism a shot, so we thought we'd make this website.

With VeganCheese.co we hope to help others have one less excuse not to go vegan, if you can find a vegan cheese you love that can replace dairy cheese, that is our main aim.
