Rawesome Foodz have just won a battle against the city of Montreal appealing court decision that prohibited them to use the word 'cheese' on their cultured cashew cream cheeses sold across Canada.

There is a civil case seeking declaratory judgement in Pursuit, Rawsome is looking for Canadian vegan cheese producers to join the file.

Back in 2018, the City of Montreal sued a local producer for between $1,500 and $2,000 for using the word "cheese" on its packaging to describe its vegan cream cheese products, but after winning a four-year court battle this week the small business gets to keep all that cheddar.

This is a short and sweet story and bodes well for future terminology issues that the industry may face from the animal-agri industry.
