Vegan Dairy Cheese Made With Non-Animal Whey and Casein Proteins is Here

The year is 2023 and we are ready to tell the world about vegan dairy cheese.

What Is Vegan Dairy Cheese

We will be brief, vegan dairy cheese is cheese, but without the animal.

That is as simply as it can be put, to expand on this a little, a number of companies around the world, now make the animal protein whey and casein but they do this with plants rather than taking it from an animal.

And if you're taking it from an animal, it means you're taking it from its calf.

And from this non-animal whey or casein, they produce vegan dairy cheese just as they would in the dairy industry, but without the original input of an animal.

Our dairy products are made with animal-free milk protein from our ingredient partners at Perfect Day. The milk protein gives our ice cream the same taste and texture of traditional dairy with no lactose and a fraction of the environmental impact (plus no animals used means no animals harmed!).

Instead of milking cows, Perfect Day uses a process called precision fermentation to create milk proteins from microflora (like yeast) and plants. The precision fermentation process looks a lot like the fermentation process used to make kombucha or beer, and the output is pure milk protein – no lactose, no hormones, no antibiotics. It’s dairy, made better.

So with the vegan dairy, it seems that most companies right now are creating an "ingredient", basically the milk either in liquid or powdered form and from there other companies who want to make vegan dairy cheese are using this vegan dairy ingredient to make vegan dairy cheese.

Just as dairy cheese companies would once they receive their order of cows milk but without the dairy, without the lactose and without the suffering.

What Does the Future Hold for Vegan Dairy Cheese

So we have seen our first releases of vegan dairy cheese in 2023, what do we see on the horizon for this section of the vegan cheese industry?

We know for sure that there are a handful of companies that will be releasing their cheese to market.

New Culture will be one of the next companies, after Perfect Day to be releasing their vegan dairy to the world.

An intimate group of leading chefs, culinary influencers and media gathered at Pizzeria Mozza in Los Angeles last night to taste the world's first animal-free, dairy mozzarella. Hosted by renowned chef Nancy Silverton the debut event showcased the revolutionary first product from New Culture, a Bay Area food company dedicated to creating sustainable, animal-free dairy.

As part of New Culture's partnership with Silverton, the event gave guests the first chance to experience this first-of-its-kind mozzarella, which will be launching on Pizzeria Mozza's menu in 2024.

So you'll soon be seeing vegan dairy mozzarella which is animal-free coming to the market in the next few months.
