What Ingredients Used to Make 2022 Award Winning Vegan Cheeses
Here is a simple graph which breaks down each and every award winning cheese from this years winning vegan cheeses of 2022 and the main ingredients used in all of the 32 winning cheeses from the recent awards.
Thats right, 32 vegan cheese winners which means you'll see a total of 32 main ingredients in the graph below.
What we can see is that out of the 32 cheeses, there are four main ingredients used for the winning cheeses this year and they are:
- Cashew with 19 cheeses
- Coconut with 6 cheeses
- Almonds with 5 cheeses
- Soy with 1 cheese
Cashews Are The Most Used Ingredient
Thats right, cashews are the most used main ingredient in all of the vegan cheese award winners for 2022.
With 19 of the 32 winning cheeses being made with a base of cashew nuts, thats 61% of the cheeses for 2022 being made with cashews.
This is not a surprising outcome to us, but most people think that the majority of vegan cheeses are made with coconut oil.
Coconut and Almonds
Coconut comes in second place, with a total of 6 of the vegan cheeses being made with coconut as its main ingredient.
A very close third, with 5 of the vegan cheeses, is almonds.
This makes 25 of the 32 cheeses are made not with coconut, which means that 81% of this years award winning cheeses are made without coconut as their main ingredient.
Soy
Finally, there is one single vegan cheese which is made using soy as its main ingredient, this is the Happy Mouse Cranberry Vegan Cheese, an absolutely wonderful vegan fruit cheese it is too and if you are in the UK, we highly recommend you give it a try.
