Vegan Cheese in the McPlant Burger
The cheese is made with a main ingredient of coconut oil and tapioca starch, this is a common pairing of main ingredients you'll find in mass produced vegan cheeses around the world.
One of the main reasons for using this pairing of ingredients is that they offer some of the best melting qualities you can find in current vegan cheeses.
If you check out our discovery tool of hundreds of vegan cheeses and sort by those that melt the best, you will see that most of these also use coconut oil as a main ingredient.
It would be interesting to see which vegan cheeses they tested that were available to consumers to see which vegan cheeses they worked from to imitate.
Usually you will find another company that makes a vegan cheese that they outsource the creation to, this is not what McDonalds have done.
It seems that they find the invention of their own vegan cheeses a priority and we wonder if they will release other variations of vegan cheeses for their vegan burgers and offerings in the future.
What do you think of the vegan cheese used in the McPlant burger?
It is the best vegan cheese I have had so far, shame it's not available for public sale!
