Kinda Co White Cheddar Cranberry Vegan Cheese

A creamy and mild, slightly tangy cashew cheese, stuffed with sweet and bitter cranberries.

This La Fauxmagerie favourite is perfect for any cheese lover - vegan or not. We'd describe it as slightly less tangy but more creamy than the best-selling Kinda Co - Farmhouse.

Absolutely delicious and a total crowd pleaser at one of our vegan cheese parties.

Appearance

Unwrapped the White Cheddar and Cranberry vegan cheese appears as a solid rectangle block mottled with large cranbery pieces. Some of the cranberry pieces are red, some dark red and some like a dark red wine in colour.

The cheese it self appears a lighter yellow than white as it says in its name. There are areas that are white that circle around the cranberries. It looks dense and filling!

This is a worthy cheese to add to your vegan cheese board adding vibrance, colour and one you'll be wanting to try out first.

Aroma

The aroma of this cheese is particularly subtle except for the smell of the sweet and tart fruitiness of the cranberries.

Flavour

When it comes to flavour this cheese is all about the yin and yang. The cheese has a delicious subtle creamy cheddar flavour that is moreish with a touch of salt.

In contrast amongst the cheddar flavour is the tartiness of the cranberries with its fruity, yet juicy and sparky flavour that adds the right amount of punch to the flavour of this cheese.

On one hand you have a distinct cheesy taste, that we enjoy very much and then the fruit opposing it. They work very well and this is why they are put together.

We can't understate how creamy this cheese is, if you can imagine enjoying a creamy nut flavouring which is savoury and hints of cranberry fruit, you're in for a treat.

 

Texture

The overall texture is smooth and when cut doesn't squish and only mildly crumbles. The texture is dense but not in an overly thick way with pockets of cranberries. The cranberries are soft and delicate in texture.

It is more solidified than many other plant based nut cheeses we have tried and more like a dairy cheese in that it is firm and doesn't crumble when you cut in to it.

This might have something to do with the oil used in it or how it's processed, but we like that it replicates a dairy cheese very well with its texture.

 

Finish

The finish is smooth, a lovely aftertaste of savoury cheddar cheese and fruit, depending on what you get in your last bite.

Highly recommended with crackers or on it's own which makes it perfect for a vegan cheese party and vegan cheese board.

 

Longevity

In the fridge the cheese can be kept for two to three weeks and wrapped tightly enough can be kept in the freezer for up to two months.

 

Environmental Credentials

The cheese is also wrapped in paper and sent with paper packaging so that gets a thumbs up in our book!

 

Summary

This is one of those cheeses that is versatile for any occasion, bringing but creaminess and and a tangy sweetness that often you need to add a little chutney to your cheese for.

Delightfully eaten alone, its hard to share its that good.

This cheese looks wonderful on a cheese board shared with friends.

Also makes a delicious sandwich, added to crackers or even given as a gift to a fellow vegan cheese lover.
