Appearance
The Nomaggio Truffle is a spreadable soft cheese, that instantly looks like you need to give it a good scoop into.
Once again we love Nomaggio's brand presentation.
The jar makes a satisfying pop as you unscrew the lid to reveal the cheese, you get a lavish amount of cheese in the jar and that's a big tick for us.
It's colour is a blond tone of yellow, it's inviting and ready to taste.
Aroma
Distinct truffle, with hints of cheesy cashew, a lovely aroma that awaits you when you pop the lid open.
Flavour
Shout out to the truffle lovers, this cheese has you covered!
Packed full of flavours that are not only earthy but luxurious.
There is a refined yet bold truffle flavour with a hint of sweetness and rounded body of savoury attributes.
Dive in and let the flavours linger.
Texture
The texture is delicately smooth and with almost wispy edges.
This cheese is firmer than a cream cheese, you'll find one scoop will be able to hold it's own shape.
It's appearance of a scoop does somewhat resemble a soft gooey mozzarella.
It's not quite as firm as mozzarella, it's not tearable, making this more of a soft cheese in it's texture.
There is almost a glutinous, springy nature to the cheese before you spread it.
It's texture also works particularly well to provide a thick creamy pasta sauce, if you love an earthy mushroom risotto or spaghetti this cheese would work exceedingly well to give you those flavours and textures.
Summary
This vegan cheese is about bold, flavourful notes of truffle, of savoury and earthy notes.
Packed in a delightfully soft mozzarella style.
This cheese is reminiscent of truffle burrata with it's gooey nature and perfectly suited to an Italian dish that will take your taste buds to Tuscany!
