Appearance

This is a white and beautiful vegan cheese to look at.

It comes as a rectangular slice which has some subtle blue pieces dotted throughout the vegan cheese.

Aroma

The aroma is quite strong, there is a strong moldy scent to to it as well as an umami aroma.

You can smell a subtle blue smell to it but this is not very distinct.

We very much enjoyed the smell of it.

Flavour

There are two distinct flavours and tastes to this cheese, the first you get it quite strong and rich in creaminess but not a blue cheese taste.

It's very moreish and almost melts in your mouth and as it does the aged blue and stilton style taste grows stronger as the taste grows.

What was also a pleasant surprise was how well this vegan blue melted, below you can see a pic of it.

Once melted it is still quite soft and runny, an absolute pleasure to eat grilled on toast.

Texture

The texture is very soft, a thick cream that melts in your mouth slowly as you enjoy this beautiful blue vegan cheese.

Longevity

The cheese needs to be kept refrigerated and below 5 degrees. Consume within 5 days of opening.

Environmental Credentials

Strictly Roots say that they aim to be as eco friendly and sustainable as possible and are constantly striving to reduce waste and eliminate plastic in production and packaging. Tubs used are veg ware and the cheese is wrapped in a biodegradable film that is made from plants.

Ingredients are also organic where possible.

Summary

As the description of the vegan cheese says, it is indeed creamy, moreish and a real aged blue vegan cheese.

What a beautiful and tasty vegan cheese, we can't recommend this plant-based cheese enough.

If you like umami and creamy blue tastes, this one is for you!
