The other reviews are a bit clown-like. The cheese is derived from cashew nuts, its consistency is a poweder with some larger powdery chunks that break up easily when pressed on with a fork. You sprinkle it over your food like just before serving pastas, for example. It has a strong smell, but the flavour is, while also strong, mild enough that it can be lost a little when mixed in with the dish it's servied with. I like the taste.
