This is our review of the Left Coast Culture Nozza Mozza Vegan Cheese
Appearance
The Left Coast Nozza Mozza comes as a wedge of vegan cheese.
It has a white colouring you would associate with mozzarella, but this is not like dairy mozzarella cheese.
It doesn't come in a liquid or water sealed package, instead is wrapped in a paper that keeps it fresh.
But when out of it's package does look similar to mozzarella, similar colour and appearance.
Aroma
This cheese gives off a slightly creamy milky aroma, that is very subtle.
Just like dairy mozzarella, it's subtle and not a smelly cheese, so this vegan mozzarella has a similar aroma and smell to that of the dairy equivalent.
It's pleasant to smell, nutty, creamy and milky.
Flavour
Now this is the kind of mozzarella style vegan cheese of dreams!
Personally I really love the taste of this cheese, it has a deepness to it that really reminds me of mozzarella. It's like the taste comes in form of the texture which spreads in your mouth and tears as you chew it.
With a simple mozzarella taste, it is a great dairy free alternative to mozzarella cheese.
Texture
This is a semi soft cheese, I wouldn't say it is a tearable as you would expect of a mozzarella style however it is rather bouncy which is differnt of dairy mozzarella.
It cuts beautifully and your cheese knife will slice through it with ease, making it easy to cut into cubes.
It doesn't easily grate which we think is a good thing as this is more true to form with dairy mozzarella. If you want to add this to a pizza you'll have to tear it or cut it to place on top of your vegan pizza.
The texture means that when you grill or oven bake this on a pizza, it does melt well, as shown in the pictures below.
Longevity
The best before date allowed for a two weeks in the fridge before openning and once open it does need consuming fairly soonish to keep it at its best.
Environmental Credentials
The cheese is wrapped in paper, many ingredients used are organic and the cheese was made and shipped within the UK.
Above you can see that it melts well on toast, which makes this a very dynamic cheese, great for meals, grilling, pizzas and enjoying with a loved one.
Summary
If you have been dreaming of a delightful alternative to mozzarella, go and check out this vegan cheese from Left Coast Culture, its soft, delicate, moreish and works just as well cold or melted.
Above we have added it to a vegan leek glamorgan sausage which worked really well.
